CAMBRIAN SOCIETY.
The opening social of the Cambrian Society took place on Saturday night in the Trinity Congregational Schoolroom, when about 60 members were present. The evening was spent in music, games, and competitions. The referred to the guests of honour, Mr and Mrs Hudson, who are leaving to-day for a year's holiday in Australia. Mr Hudson, read the address of welcome when H.E.H. the Prince of Wales were here, and is held in great esteem. Mr Gam, of Wellington, was also a guest. Supper was provided by the ladies, and all enjoyed the entertainment arranged by % Mr and Mrs Bowden, in which all could take part. Others present were:—Mr and Mrs F. W, Jones, Mr and Mrs Sogers, Mr and Mrs J, Bowden, Mr and Mrs A. Johns, Mr and Mrs A. Marshall, Mr and Mrs H. Collins, Mr and Mrs CaygilJ, Mr and Mrs Hugh Williams, Mr and Mrs Worsdell, Mr and Mrs B. H. Williams, Mr and Mrs D. James, Mr John Williams, and the Misses Williams, Mrs Pollard and the Misses Pollard (3), Mrs Bayliss, Mrs Joseph, Mesdames Kcnna, Alfrey, Bradbury, Herriott, and Hamber, the Misses James, Davies, Asliton, Buth Jones, F. Williams, Eoberts, Griffiths (2), Messrs John Evans, Owen Jones, S. Lloyd, D. George, Hetherington, and Bayliss.
