NORTH CANTERBURY.

RANGIORA. At the fortnightly meeting of the Druids' Lodge, Bro. C. Tyler reported on the Visit made to the Trafalgar Lodge on which occasion the Grand Lodge officers presented the Trafalgar Lodge with a handsome oak honours board from the various lodges in the district. An invitation to be present at the public installation of officers by the Oddfellows' Lodgo was received and accepted with thanks. Sick pay to the amount of £!) was passed for payment. In connexion with Auzac Day services a parade of returned soldiers, territorials, and cadets, members of local bodies, friendly societies, fire brigade, church choirs, and school-children, headed bv the Brass Band, will assemble at the Drill Hall at 2.30 p.m., for the Fallen Soldiers' Memorial where wreaths will be deposited. The procession will then proceed to Victoria I'ark, where a combined memorial service will be held by the ministers of tho various churches, the address being given by tho Rev. V. I?. Ifutcheson. Special reference will be made in the churches .to Anzac Day on Sunday. KAIAPOI. The annual meeting of the Ivaiapoi branch of the I'lunket Society was held in the Orange Hall, Kaiupoi. Tho president, Mis J. H. Blackwell, presided over a well-attended meeting. The report stated that the isociety's efforts during the past year had proved .. ost satisfactory. The work done in the district had grown considerably, and Nurse Wall now found it difficult to cope witli it in tho time at her disposal. With tho object of increasing the Society's activities tho committed urged all sympathiser to become annual subscribers to the branch. The committee extended its thanks to the Kainpoi Borough Council for the use of a room in the Council Chambers. The report with the annual balancewhich showed a credit balance of £7 8s 4d. were received and adopted. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year President, Mrs J. H. Blnckwell; vice-president, Mrs G. E. Gillett; treasurer, Mrs H. Mcintosh: lion, secretary, Mrd L. 0. B. Fuldseth; committee, Mesdames W. H, Keetlev, J. H. Bairrl, H. H. Blackwell, 8. J. Richards, E. Bristow, E. Clothier, and L. R. Oram. Mrs Cracroft Wilson and Mrs Chilton, of the OhristchUrch committee, who were present, gave interesting addresses dealing with the manner in which the Society's activities had spread. SEFTON. At a meeting of the Library Committee, the secretary reported the receipt of £ll Is 3d Government subsidy for 1926. The chairman and secretary were authorised to buy new books to that amount. The librarian's report showed the issue of books for the past four Weeks as 187. The income for the period tfas £1 la 3d. On Wednesday evening, the Rev. \V. B. Ciiming held the first meeting of a Bible Class in the Methodist Church. ELLESMERE. (The Hon. Mrs Tahu Rhodes, president, presided over the annual meeting of the Ellesmere branch of the Plunket Society, held at Leestoh, and there was a large attendance, representative of all parts of the Ellesmere County. The honorary secretary, Mrs Harte, presented a report which stated that during the year the branch had farewelled two of its most enthusiastic members, Mrs T. H. Overtoil, who haa been president for four years, and Mrs A. J. Gray, Who had been vice-presi-denti Parting gifts had been handed td bdth ladies. Membership fees totalled £ls 15s. The balance-sheet, presented by the honorary treasurer, Mrs R. M. Robertson, gave the total receipts as £ll3 14S 2d, ihelusive of a balafloe of £l3 14s 2d from the previous year. The expenditure amounted to £94 4s lid, leaving a credit balance of £l9 Qs 3d. Hyndman, a former resident of Prebbleton, who has been on a short visit to his mother. Mrs J. Hyndmart, leaves to-day on his return to Stratford. Pleasant autuma Weather has been experienced for several weeks past and farmers have been enabled to proceed uninterruptedly with their autiimn sowing and general team work. Several crops are through, tho extremely favourable conditions having made germination and growth exceedingly rapid. Potato digging is fairly general, and some highly satisfactory yields are reported, the majority of the crops, however, being only fair.
