INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM.
TO BE POLL-TAXED. A Government Department has notified the secretary of the New Zealand Hockey Association that that body will be required to deposit a £lO poll tax for each native member of the Indian Hockey Team which will arrive in New Zealand shortly. The team comprises four British officers, one native officer, and twelve Sikhs of other ranks. Although the tas is to be refunded when the native members of the team leave the Dominion, the news was received v with astonishment by the officials of the Association.
