COMMUNISTS ON TRIAL.
WILFUL MURDER CHARGES. (BT CASUS—PBSSB ASSOCIATION—COPTBIOXTO (MOTIVs XILSOBAUSj PARIS, April 20. A trial which is expected to last a fortnight has opened at the Seine Assizes, in which two Communists, Clero and Beradon, are charged with wilful murder in connexion with a ■hooting affair in April last year. Circumstances pointed to a carefully organised attack on the Fascists, of whom four were killed and 11 grounded. Clero and Beradon were arrested biding revolvers. The former says that he fired iis self-defence. The latter asserts that he picked up but did not fire the revolver he was holding. [The friction between the Communists and the Nationalists in Paris came to a tragic climax on April 23rd last rear, when a group of young men belonging to M. Millerand's "Nationalist peagtie" were attacked by Communists; three of the Nationalists were killed in the fight that ensued. . The Communists formally denied that the ;wo alleged participants in the shooting, who were subsequently arrested by bhe police, were members of their party, but the police asserted that idlaed documents proved the contrary.]
