.MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of (lie Wnimato Hunt Club was held on Saturday ovenin;;, Mr K. C. tfludholnio presiding. In reply to the club's enquiries regarding ft refund of racing taxatiou, replies were received from <lie New Zealand Uncin? Conference, :ho New Zealand Hunts Asrocint 0:1, and tho Department of Internal Affairs, stilting that a hunt club using the totnlisntor was not debarred from benefiting under section 8 of the Finance Act, because it did not own a racecourse of its own. It was r.eces.'arv however, that an amount equal to the refund nhou'd have been expended on improvements at the racecouise where totalizator meetings were conducted dnvini; the year. It v.as advisable for the Hunt Club" to confer with the liacinj: Clv.b in order that tho opportunity bo not lost of obtaining the 1J per cent, icfund. It was resolved that. Messrs K. C. Studholme, E. B. Fraser, and R. R. G. Rattray lie. a sub-committee froin the Hunt duo to confer with* tho Waimatc Racing Club Committee and mnlto suitable arrangementfor application for a refund. The- Secretary of the Canterbury District Committee, wrote statin? that applications for dates for race meetings for the season should bo in his hunus not later than April 30th. On the. motion of Messrs Y. B. Fraser and E. C. d'Auvcrgne, it was decided to apply for Thursday, July 21st, 1927, as the date for the Hunt Club's annual race meeting. Messrs P. V. Stevens nnd )). McDonald were elected members of tha club. Last year's programme for the point-to-point was adopted, with tho alteration that tho distances for tho light and heavy-weight events be nbout threo and a half miles in lieu of four miles. Tho Master (Captain X. 0. Rnttray), deputy-master (J. S. Manchester), and the honorary treasurer (E. B. Fraser) were appointed to CRnvaps fox trophies for tho point-to-point meeting. The following officials were appointed: Stewards, Waimatc Hunt Committee; honorary judges, Messrs H. B. S. Johnstono and E. B. Fraaar; honorary Btartor, Mr T. Tworney. honorary - clerk of scales, Messrs A. Dunstan and K. Stewart; honorary clerk of courso, Mr R. Frost; selectors of course. Messrs T. 'iVoiuey, C. S. McLacblan, and E. C. d'Auvcrgne.
