BANK NOTES.
—:—» —-~ SIZE AND COLOURING. I. . ' ' (snciAt to "thi ritiss.") DUNEDIN, April 20. The disparity in the size and colour of bank notes is a subject which has engaged the constant attention of the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, and its efforts to' induce improvement are receiving wider 'support. The general manager, of the Bauk of New Zealand wrote to the Chamber that the matter was being considered by the Associated Banks. Letters from the Wellington and Canterbury Chambers also were read' at a meeting of . the Council of'the Dunedin Chamber. The Canterbury opinion was that it was not a disadvantage to have notes of various denominations of different size, but that the differentiation in colouring and marking should .be more readily distinguished. Wellington reported that the majority there was in favour of the uniform size being retained, but thought that the colours should be more readily distinguished. ■'' We are apparently making some headway," said the chairman, when the matter was referred to the executive.
