NEW BAPTIST MINISTER.

REV. J. ROBERTSON. I The Rev. J, Robertson, 8,A., com-1 menced his ministry at the Oxford terrace Baptist Church yesterday, and preached to very large congregations at both the morning and evening services. Mr Robertson comes to Chrlstchurch from Canterbury, Melbourne, Australia, and lie is a native of Australia. He •was trained at the Queensland Baptist Theological College, and is ft graduate of Melbourne University. He is an old inter-State footballer, under the Australian rules, and is a Jjeen cricketer. For two years he was away on activo service, and he has just retired from the position of first-class chaplain of the United Board, Third Military District. Another important post the reverend gentleman holds is that of life-governor of the Melbourne Hospital. In the evening Mr Hobertson preached on "The Quest of Ages," and took as his text, "And ye shall seek Me and find Me when ye search for Me with all your heart." He spoke of the quests of Sir Ernest Shackleton, Sir Boss Smith, and said that there was one sentiment that drove both these great men onward. It was to achieve the thing unachieved.
