Alleged Negligent Driving. At the Hokitika Magistrate's Court to-day, before Mr W. Meldrum, S.M., Edward Searle -\vas charged with negligently driving a motor vehicle, thereby J causing bodily harm to James Kilcullen, and with failing to report the accident to the police. The charges were, the sequel to an accident which occurred on November 14th, whereby James Kilcullen suffered serious injuries. Evidence was to the effect that Kilcullen, along with others, was riding on a four-ton Levland lorrv laden with timber, whiHi slowed down to allow an approaching i car to pass, when another lorry, driven : by accused, which was following, bumpl ed into the rear of the Levland, the ■ impact causing two pieces of projecting . timber to penetrate the cabin, and seriously injure Kilcullen, who was pinned to the floor of the lorrv. 1 Accused reserved his defence, and was committed to the Supreme Court for trial on March 3rd.
