AMURI COUNTY COUNCIL.

The monthly meeting of the Amuri County Council was hold in Culverden last week. Present: Crs M. Betholl (chairman), H. D. Davison, J. IV. Black. R. L. Jameson, Q. O. Rutherford, W. Hanmer Atkinson. TI. T. Heaven, W. Harold Atkinson, and K. Jferccr. The receipts for the month -were:—General account, £2743 17s 6d. maintenance account £l7 18s lid. The balances were as follows: County fund account, cr. <11135 -Is 3d. maintenance account, cr. £-14 2s 3d, thirds account, cr. £214 5s 6d. The following accounts were passed for payment: —General account £1315 8s lid, and maintenance account £l7 lis. The Public. Works Department forwarded authorities to spend £462 on the highway from the Convav to Huranui. and also authorities to spend £I6OO for construction at Whalesback. They also wrote, stating that they hod paid into the CouDtv Fund account the following grants:—Cuiverdeu-Hanmer rond i'SS 10s. IVnipara-Kaikoura via C'ulverden £1467 6s Bd, Culverden-Hanmer road £157 7s Bd, Waipitra-Kaikours via Culverden £469 4s lid: Total £2162 9s 2d. The chairman reported that the Vhalesbsck metalling contractor was progressing with the work very slowly. Tha Commissioner of Crown Lands wrote stating that his Department would not accept liability for the rates unpaid on the Glen Wye Crown property. The Resident Engineer, Christehurch wrote) forwarding the itinerary of 'lie visit of the Main Highways Board". It was do cidod to reply, stating that the Chairman and Engineer would meet them on the 17th inst. and that the remainder of the Council >iould meet them thb same day at Culverden at 10 a.tii.
