AUCKLAND, January 15

A message from Tehapua states that ihe launch Tora struck a submerged floating object about two miles off North Cape, at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, and ■was badly damaged. She was run ashore at Nudus Nook, and broken up by the surf. The crew got 6afely ashore. They were: Ernest Neil (master), John Buchan (leading hand), E. Thomas (seaman), and W. Buchan. The engine was salvaged the following day, and the four men left for Tehapua. All their personal effects were lost, and they will make the voyage from the north a3 • shipwrecked mariners. They had, to walk twenty miles from the wreck for succour. Arrangements have been made by the marine superintendent .to have them brought to Auckland by the Northern Co.'s steamer Ngatiawa, which leaves Auckland next Monday, and irill take them aboard at Parengarenga on Thursday. The Tora was an oil launch of 21 tons, licensed as a fishing vessel. She was owned-by Messrs Thomas Neil and Co. of Newton road. Her principal dimensions- were: Length 32 feet, breadth 9ft 6in, draught 2ft 6in.
