MOA BONES.
FOUND NEAR WAIKATO IfEADS? (SPXCIAXi TO "THZ PBXSS.") AUCKLAND, January 25. The discovery of moa bones oa the sandhills lying between Maioio and Waikato Heads, is reported from Waiuku. lletuming from a fishing excursion, Messrs A. O. Johnson and E. Banbury found the remains of a nsoa exposed the blowing away of aan<L The bones were very chalky and brittle, and appeared to have been buried £Ol a very long period. Accompanying them were about 200 small stone*, well worn and polished, obviously iton the bird's crop.
On several previous occasions »oa bones have been found ia this part ot the country, the most Important discovery being that of the bones ot several birds uncovered during the draining of McTier's, now; Hamilton •» swamp, at Awhitu.
