WIRELESS STRIKE.
700 VESSELS AFFECTED, (B7 CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (REUTER'S IELEOBAaS.) LONDON, January 14. Over 700 vessels are at present at sea without wirekss operators, and 1500 operators have joined the strike, according to an official of the Wireless Operators' Union. [Owing to the failure of negotiations respecting the shipowners' decision to cut down wireless operators' wages by 22s 6d monthly as from December the Operators' Association decreed a strike. Those arriving at home ports are refusing to sign on again till the dispute is settled. The strike will not effect land stations, but the Association of Wireless and Cable Telegraphists, which called the strike, claims that its members comprise 98 per cent, of the wireless operators aboard British merchantmen.]
