EMPIRE EXPORTS.
NEED FOR INCREASE. (BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.} LONDON, January 14. The Federation of British Industries sent a letter to Mr Stanley Baldwin pointing out the urgent need: for increasing Great Britain's export trade to countries within the Empire above the present proportion of 41 per cent, of the total exports. The Federation expresses the opinion that expansion njust proceed pari passu with the increase of the Dominions' purchasing power, with which the marketing of Dominion produce is indissolubly connected, because the larger the sale of Dominion goods the greater will be the Dominions' purchasing power here. The letter enquires when the Minister will announce its decision on the Imperial Economic Committee's two reports issued in August, in wßich two of the Empire's most pressing problems were dealt with.
