CHRISTCHURCH DRAINAGE SYSTEM. MR WALTER HILL'S OPINION. / Mr Walter Hill, chairman of the Christchurch Drainage Board, returned to Christchurch yesterday after an extended tour abroad. Speaking to a representative of "The Press" yesterday, Mr Hill said he had not seen anything better than the Christchurch system, although he had seen many larger and more expensive schemes—the plant at Bradford, for example, costing some £3,000,000. Many large towns in England were adopting the system of filtration and irrigation Buch as employed here, but in moat cases it was a very expensive matter, because large tracts of rich farm land had to be purchased. Christchurch, with its sandhills, was ideally situated for this form of sewerage. "I make no recommendation for Christchurch to alter its sewerage system," added Mr HilL
