CYCLING.
CHBRTSEY CLUB. The first road race of tho season held under the auspices of the Chertsey Cycling and Athletic Club took place on Saturday afternoon. Tho weather was ideal and the roads were in good condition. Mr D. Lynch and Mr W. Holland wore the handicappers, and Mr A. C. .Cameron starter and timekeeper. There were twenty-eight starters. Tho finish of the race was an exciting one, about ten riders being bunched. A wheel separated first and second, with the third man close up. Results:— I*. Gould. SJmin, time 40min 25sec .. 1 H. O'Connor, 2Jmin, time 40min 25 l-sseo 2 F. Butters, 2imin, time, 40min 9scc .. 3 Fastest time, H. Cranficld, 38min 40scc.
