New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association that Jackson Scholz. world's champion furlong sprinter, lias left America for Honolulu, en route t6 New Zealand. He will .join the Niagara at Honolulu, and should arrive in Auckland on January 4th. I,loyd Hahn, the mile runner, will also, arrive by the Niagara. ROSE FAILS TO BREAK RECORD. Rose, the long distance champion, made au ■jiisaccessful attempt to break the three-mile Australian and New Zealand record established on the local ground at the champ': n-. ship meeting last season. His time for th» distance was 13 minutes o 3-5 seconds, -'0 2-5 seconds short of the rtcord. A strj;i; westerly wind that swept the ground militated against fast times. In additbn to this there wa.s not a competitor capiole of extending Kose, and he had to finish the lust wiree-quarters of a mile without being paced. He sprinted over the last 40 yards, and finuned comparatively fresh, ami.-.s; the plaudits of a large crowd of spectators.
