JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. Christ's College will celebrate its Diamond Jubilee next month. The official programme is as follows: Friday, December 18th—10.30 a.m., cricket matches at College ground; 2.30 p.m., polo matches on polo ground; 7.?0 p.m.. concert in gymnasium. Saturday, December 19th—8 p.m., presentation of prizes in Memorial Hall. Sunday, December 20th—8 a.m., Holy Communion in chapel; 11 a.m., service in Cathedral. Monday, December 215t—9.30 a.m., tennis at United courts, Hagley Park; 7 p.m., dinner in Memorial Hall. Tuesday, December 22nd—9 p.m., ball in Memorial Hall. The foundation of the school practically dates from the inception of the settlement of the province, for, long before the arrival of the first four ships, an elaborate scheme for the establishment of, a college in Christchiirch was drawn up under tho Canterbury Settlement Association. The principal of the school, the late Very. Rev. Dean Jacobs, arrived in one of tho first four ships, tho Sir George Seymour, and soon after the arrival, the school was lauched in two whitewashed rooms of the immigrant barracks at Lyttelton. Later the school was transferred to a site by St. Michael's Church in Christchurch, and finally it was shifted to its present position.
