♦— — : TRIAL RACES. Another trial race for fourteen-feet one design Jcllicoe class boats will be sailed on tho Kstuary on Saturday. In addition to the Lyttelton boats Linnctt 11. and Usher, ,-ind the Christchurch boats Sccret-and Betty, •another Lyttolton boat, Magpie, will be competing. The. raco -will start in the main chancel opposite the Christchurch Sailing Club's headquarters, at Monck's Bay, at 3 o'clock, and tho course will be to a buoy off tho triangle stake at the junction of the Hcathcote and Avon rivers, thenco up tho IJeathcote channel to u buoy off Skylark Island, and back to a mark boat on the starting line, three times round. . The length of the course is approximately nine miles, and must be finished in two hours or no race. The tide will be high and spectators will obtain a splendid view of the race from the Kgtuary road, Redcliffs. The officials for tho afternoon will be Mr E. Butcher, starter, Mr T. L. Robinson, timekeeper, Mr H. Berry, judge. This is the first time Canterbury has had so many of this class of boats in the trial races. The next trials will be sailed in Lvttcltou harbour.
