The Chatham Islands Fishing Company's ! steamer Awarua, for which .some anxiety was felt as to her safety last week, returned to Wellington from the Chathams at j 3 p.m. on Monday, with a cargo of cod and I groper. Exceptionally heavy weather was ! experienced at the Islands, ahd the Awarua : had to run to Whangaroa for shelter. Tho vessel lay at AVhangaroa for eight days. The glass rose on November 20th. and "in fine weather and a light south west wind, "the Awarua cleared Whangaroa for Wellington. Moderate nor'-westerlies were experienced on the run up, together with a heavy westerly swell.
