STELLA MURRAY. FAREWELL RECITAL TO-MGHT. A farewell rccit.il will be £iven in the Theatre Royal to-night by Stella. Hurray, the New Zealand contralto. Miss Murray, who has bad a most successful tour throughout the Dominion, is leaving New Zealand for .England, where she intends to continue her concert career. Her visit has repealed her os an artistic, accomplished, and versatile singer, and it is conlidcntly predicted that further laurels *vil] bt; cr * n ,^ lc w i<icr sphere of the oJd world. She is possessed of & personality of great charm, and she is a singer who understands fully tho art of sympathetic interpretation. Her concerts are ucaoubfodly musical events of tho most pleasant and <iMighttul description, and it may be confidently predicted that cq this occasion, as ou the last, the musical public of Christchurch will aitftcd in largo numbers. Writingl of her previous concert iu Chrictchurch 4. local critic said:—"So many and varied are the qualifications essential to any vocaist aspiring to musical farao that voluminous test-hooks have .written by the score to onuinerato thrm. Theses qualification? Mis;, Murray has a-plenty. Her voice is beautifully mellow, with velvety qualitv throughout its various register*. Her range is n really remarkable one, with no suggestion of unevennens or 'break' throughout its entire gamut. Her enunciation and intonation are perfect, and t> au almost perfect vocalisation she adds case and gracefulness and a rare gift of interpretation. It may be that Mjbs Murray will not advance much further in her art —she has nothing 1o unlearn, and little to add to what she already possesses—but as she is to-day her Fucce&s on the concert pKtiornt should be assured." Visa Murray will bo supported on this occasion by Mr Harold "Whittle, whose ability as an accompanist- is too well known to need any further recommendation. The box plan is at The Bristol, where big booking is being recorded.
