OLD BOYS' REUNION. The annual reunion of 'Wellington College eld boys.resident in Canterbury was held last night, Mr W. AT. Hamilton presiding. After the loyal toast had been drunk in silence, the chairman proposed "The College." He said that the success of an educational institution depended more than anything else on the way the pupils availed themselves of the advantages to be gained there. The success of a school was to be judged by the influence it exerted on the life of tho community. Those who had gone out from the school had done their tasks in a way which was not to be ashamed of. Although yet iu its infancy, Wellington College had pfoduced men of standing. The toasts of "Kindred Associations' was proposed by Mr G. G. Burns. Mr G. Weston (Christ's College) said that the schools of Kew Zealand had done a great deal for the country. He felt that the stability of New Zealand was duo to a large extent to the secondary schools, which produced a level-hcadedness. It was not the brilliant men, but the steady rank and file, who made for order and decency. Boys of secondary schools learned the family spirit and lovo for an institution Which Btood them in good stead. The speaker had had close association with headmasters of Wellington College, and he ventured to say that Mr J. P. Firth was a model of what a headmaster should be. (Applause.) He wished the school continued luck and prosperity. The constitution of the Christchurch branch of the Old Boys' Association was approved, and the following officers were elected.—Vreside.it, .Mr W. M. Hamilton; secretarv and treasurer, Mr K. J. Collins, committee, Messrs O. G. Burns, C. P. B. Tripe, X. Smyth, H. R. Sampson, and Huntley Kliott. _- Other toasts honoured were: The Masters, Past and Present." "Tho Old, Old Boy " by Mr G. Latirenson, and responded to bv Mr Huntley Kliott; "The Old Boys who Served in the Great War," by Mr K. It. Collins, and replied to by Laptain Fimllay; "The Entertainers," proposed bv Mr U. K. Sampson. 'Elocutionary items were given by Messrs L. K. Vcrnasoni and V. Macdonald.
