Miss Amokura Torepo plaved the accompaniments. After the service Mr H. Torepe, chairman of the Kunanga, formally welcomed the Apotoro. It was to the Arowhenua Pa that the honour fell of having tho first officially appointed Apoto.-o in the teout-n Island. Later an excellent lunch was partaken of by all, in honour of the newly appointed Anotoro. A most successful euchre tournament and dance, organised bv Mrs J. C South for Dr. Baruardo's Homes, was held in the Winchester Sunday School. The attendance *was large and euchre prizes were won by Miss Kna Alexander and Mr H. Palmer. The consolation prizes went to Mrs K. J. Russell 'and Mr G. Lundy. Mr W. Smith (Oran) gratuitously supolied the music, and was assisted bv'Mesdames W. Pearce and G. South and Mr M. Patrick. Mr J. Philp was M.C. A delicious supper was provided by Mrs J. C. South, and a cake given 'by her for competition was won by Miss L. Connolly. A Iwx of chocolates given by Mr T. H., Langford was won bv Miss E. Scott. Mr L. H. Orbeil thankett Mrs South for her successful evening's amusement and also tho people for assisting a worthy cause, the sum of £lO being raised thereby. He also stated thait the committee intended to hold similar functions till harvest, the proceeds to go towards the electric lighting of the Sunday School.
