j $ ' ! POSITION IMPROVES GREATLY, j Tic Citizens' Unemployment Committee met yesterday. The report for the past week stated that work had been proceeding on tho river bank between the Bhode3 street bridge and the "Millbrook'reserve, and was almost finished; t.he City Council was erecting a post-and-rail fence on the banks. Work ha'i boon done also on the bandsmen's memorial site, on. Hagley avenue, and the riverside paths near the Bridge of Remembrance. During the week the subscriptions to the fund totalled £l7 Is Sd, bringing the total to date up to £2130 3s 3d. Tho balance to credit'was approximately £290, less wages for the week, and outstanding accounts amounting to £.90. During the week only two applications for employment wore received.
