V " THE FUNERAL. The funeral of the late Mr A. J. Magson, "Hatfield," Bakaia, tools place at the Bakaia Cemetery on Monday afternoon. There was a large attendance, fully representative of the district and of the bodies with which the late Mr Magson was connected. The cortege in which there were well over one hundred cars, was more than a mile long. Among those presonfc were; —Messrs W. J, Walter (chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board), J. Storry, G. Scott (Lyttelton Harbour Board), K. Gaibraith (Mayor of Ashburton and deputy-chairman of the Lyttelton Harbour Board), W. H. Woods (DeputyMayor of Ashburton), Gyrus Williania (secretary Lyttelton Harbour Board), C. H. Clibborn (assistant-secretary Lyttelton Harbour Board), A. C. Fryer (as-sistant-engineer Lyttelton Harbour Board), P. B. Cliinio (Canterbury Progress League), W. K. McAlpine, G. 11. Judd (Canterbury Progress League), P. J. Andrews (chairman Behvyn County Council), James Cow (chairman, Ashburton Power Board), members of the Selwyn and Ashburton County Councils, Ashburton Hospital Board, the Bakaia Boad Board, and Domain Board, ami represeijtatii eg of tho Federal Club, the Ellesmere Licensing Committee, and the Metropolitan Trotting Association. The pall-bearers were Messrs J.' Walter (chairman, Lyttelton Harbour Board), F. W. Watt (Ashburton Hospital Board), W. G. Gallagher (chairman Ashburton County Council), and James Lambie (Bakaia Boad Board). The service at the graveside was conductedby the Bev. E. J*.
