Lord Jellieoe and Lord Allen by were tho guests of tho Earl of Harrowby at a shooting party ab Sandon Hall, near vStafford. Each laid a laurel wreath on tho village war memorial. Lord Jellieoe, in a speech, said that recently he lifxl been serving and trying to do his duty in a distant portion of the British Empire, which was as patriotic and loyal as any other part, and the people prided themselves in being descended from Britons. No portion of the British race responded more quickly to the call to defend the Empire in the late war than New £calanders.
