Latest advices from Mount Morgan state that lire has broken out underground.
Two' hundred experienced miners worked assiduously and raised steam for pumping and also working tho winding gear to enable men to go down to the seat of the outbreak, the extent of which is not yet known. It is thought that the fire is due to spontaneous combustion.
The company is finding difficulty in Retting volunteers to fight the fire. This is most pronounced in regard to the engine-drivers, firemen, and electricians.
The Lock-out Council desired every man to report and take hi* share of the work. >

The miners risked their lives in extinguishing the Mount Morgan fire, many having to return with bleeding noses, dqa to the fumes and to gas.
