Cook, speaking at Stapleford, said: "Before the Coal Commission starts, I declare, on behalf of tJhe miners, that whatever its findings may be, we won't agree to lower wages or longer hours. They can shut every pit, but wo will find a way to open them."
Mr Baldwin" s action in granting the subsidy showed that the workers now have power, he said.
