MAIN ROLLS. TO CLpSE THIS MONTH. (SrECIAL TO "THE TRESS.") WELLINGTON. August 14. Mr P. A. de la TerrelSe asked a question in the House to-day about the possible disqualification of voters wl lo were moving about the country. The Prime Minister said the Electoral Department was thoroughly satisfied with the work tho Post Office had done in connexion with the compulsory enrolment. Ninety per cent, of the electors were already enrollea. He thought the rolls would be closed at the end of this month. Electors could, however, get on tho supplementary rolls after the main rolls had closed* In regard to commercial travellers, who were alwavs moving about ie would make a note of the point for further enquiry. REFORM party ORGANISATION. HURUNUI electorate. Tho Kcform Party organiser for North Canterbury, Mr A. E. Loach, reports having recently visited the greater portion of the Hurunui electorate, and having held meetings of supporters of the Party at the principal centres. At all the places visited, Mr Loach found that amongst the supporters of the Reform Party whom ho met there was a considerable amount of enthusiasm, not only in respect of tho approaching conference, at which tho Party's official candidate is to be selected, but also in respect of the forthcoming General Election. A pleasing featuro of Mr Loach's conversations with electors of the district was the spontaneous references mado to tho good work done and being done by the Prime Minister, Mr Coates. Mr Loach was assured by some who have never voted Reform hitherto that they | intend to do so at the coming General Election. The conference of delegates from branches of tho Reform Party in Hurunui at which the Party's official candidates is to be selected is to be held next Tuesday at ( 1.30 p.m. in the Oddfellows' Hall, Amberley. Messrs J. G. Armstrong and N. D. Campbell are the aspirants for selection. Kaiapoi and Lyttelton. In respect of the selection of the official Reform candidates for Kaiapoi and Lyttelton, stops are being taken at present to conveno the preliminary meetings in each electorate at which delegates aro to be appointed to attend the conferences at which the Party's official candidates will be selected. The conference of delegates from the Kaiapoi electorate will bo held on September Ist at 2 p.m., in Christchurch, in the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce Hall. The conference of delegates from the Lyttelton electorate will be held in tho same hall on September 2nd, and in order to suit the convenience of the delegates from Akaroa and the Bays it will open at 1 p.m. HUTT SEAT. WILL MR WILFORD STAND ? (press association telegbaji.) » WELLINGTON, August 14. "No one has any authority," said Mr T. M. Wilford, "to state that I will be a candidate for the Hutt seat at the nest election, and though members of our Party have offered to assist me in the campaign if I am a candidate and am out of the country, I intend leaving the absolute decision as to whether I shall be nominated or not for the Hutt to delegates of the branches of my organisation in that constituency, who will meet about the end of the month to consider the question. "The organisation of my constituency is in thorough working order, and is ready for a campaign, and can interpret and convey to me with certainty the wishes of my supporters in the electorate.''
