The Orepuki. due to day from Tarakobe, loads on Monday for Nelson, Westport and Greymouth. The Progress discharges cattle tomorrow and loads on Monday for Dunedin. Tho Gale is due tomorrow from Timaru and is to sail on Monday afternoon with cargo for Wellington, Picton and Wanganui. The Breeze is to sail this afternoon with cargo for Dunedin and Timaru. • The Kaiapoi is expected to-day from the south to load for Aucklund. The Opua was due last night from Wellington. She is to load 10-day for New Plymouth to the agency of the U.S.S. Co. Cat'lo advice has been received that tho West Nivaria cleared San Francisco on 31st July for Auckland, Lyttelton, and Australia. She is expected at Auckland about the 26th August. The Union Company's passenger steamer Manuka, which has been laid up nt Wellington for some months, is to re enter the New Zealand-Melbourne service during the first week in September. She is scheduled to leave Wellington on September 7th for Port Chalmers, where she will dock for cleaning and painting. On September 10th she will take her departure for Melbourne, via Bluff. AVith passengers, mails, and cargo the Shaw-Savill liner Athenic is to leave Southampton to-day for Auckland and "\\el- j lington. The vessel is due at Auckland on September 21st, and at Wellington on September 28tli. A cable message to the Federal Company announces the departure of the Devon from Liverpool on Saturday last with general cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lvttelton, and Dunedin. The vessel is due' at' Auckland on September 20th, and at Wellington about a week later. From Bunbury with 2,000,000 ft of hardwood timber the tramp steamer Atholl arrived at Auckland on Monday. She berthed to discharge about half the cargo and the remainder will t'e put out at A\el- • lington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. Captain W. Steven is in command of the ship. To complete loading the Shaw-Savill liner Arawa leaves Timaru. to-day for Lyttelton and Wellington. SALE OP THE RIPA. The Canterbury Steam Shipping"'Company hove sold their steamer Ripa to' Messrs Burns, I'hilp and Co. for a sum in the vicinity of £10,001). The vessel will he used; in the Islands trade, and leaves for the Solomon Islands next, week. The Kip a was the first of the Canterbury Company's fleet of steamers, and was purchased new in 19U4. She came out via Suez and loaded a carjjo of salt- at Edithburgr, AVest Australia, for Dunedin. SIIO waa until lately named the Storm, and was engaged in the coastal trade, usually between Dunedin. and AVanganni, via ports. The company lias since bought several more steamers. They intend to replace the Rip'a with a larger and more up-to-date vessel. Previous to acquiring steamers, the company, under the name of A. H. Turnbull and Co., owned a large fleet of sailing vessels, the best known of which were the barques Kate Tatham, Jjake Eyre, Kinclune, j\fanurewa, Bona, and West Australian. Since entering- into steam the company has confined itself to the coastal trade. THE OTRANTO. j NEW ORIENT LINER. The Otranto has a gross tonnage of 20,000, n length of 658 feet, and is 75 feet wide. Like the other vessels of the Orient Line, she has been designed to carry two classes of passengers only, of which she will accommodate 600 in the first saloon, and 1200 in the third class. The vessel has been designed with nil the latest conveniences, and every facility and comfort will be placed at the disposal of the traveller.
