SCENIC RESERVES.
IMPROVED PUBLIC SENTIMENT.
(special to "the PPJSSS.") AA r ELLINGTON, August 13. Tho bulk of tho scenic reserves are stated in the report of the Department presented to the House of Representatives to-day to bo in good order and condition. Several cases of wanton destruction and gross carelessness have, however, been reported, and unfortunately in some country districts the Department has. had to contend with a £ood deal of apathy and indifference 011 the part of the residents. As against this dark picture it must bo said that evidenco is not wanting; to show that public opinion is inclining more and more favourably towards tho preservation of natural beauty.
