FIRES.
CURIOS LOST IN BLAZE.
(press association telegram.) TE KUITI, August' 13. At about 7 o'clock last night a sixroomed house at Waitata, owned by A. C. Lavington, was totally destroyed by iire. The owner was filling a lamp when it caught fire, and the house was quickly a mass of flames, making it impossible to save anything. The contents were insured for £IOO, and the house for £BOO. Mr and Mrs Lavington are heavy losers, as they possessed valuable curios i collected'in all parts of the world, .and these cannot be replaced. The contents of the house were worth £3OOO.
