DUNEDIN HOSPITAL.
DUTIES OF STAFF. (J?BESS ISSOCIATIOH WILIWBAM.) | DUNEDIN, July 9. At a meeting of the Otago Hospital Board this afternoon, a letter was read from tho Mayor stating that a deputation to him had suggested an independent chairman should be appointed; to tho conference of the honorary medical staff and tho Board which is to be held to define the ducio of the medical superintendent and house staff as a result of the recent Robertson case. Members of the Board expressed indignation at tho nature of tiio request, and a resolution was iinanirhously carried expressing confidence in its own chairman, and Tjointing out that the Hospital Board was resolved to deal itself with its own business.
A letter was received from the medical superintendent (Dr. Falconer), protesting against the finding of the Board in its reference to him, and suggesting that it should be withdrawn until the enquiry on' the hospital administration was held.
Consideration of the matter was deferred till tho nest meeting of the Board.
