TRAIN AND CHARABANC COLLIDE.
NARROW ESCAPE OF SCHOOL CHILDREN. (PEKSS ASSOCIATION TELEQUAM.) NAPIEB, July 9. A twelve-scater charabanc, bringing twenty children to school from Eivor Bend road, collided with the Eskdale train on the Taradale road this morning. Several children wero injured, some seriously. The car was cut in two,' the back, over-hanging portion, being.takon clean off.
The railway track is in full view for hundreds of yards, but apparently the driver failed to notieo the train until within a few yards, and too late to avoid a smash. Three children are hi the hospital. They are: —Mavis Holder, aged 9, fractured right leg, abrasions, and shocks Eric Holder, 13, fractured left leg; Erie Hodgkinson, 11, badly cut about the jaw and mouth. All tho other children escaped with shock. Ifc is stated that tho driver did not sec tho train until the children called out.
