NOTES. A novel guessing competition is to be conducted at- an early date by the pioneer Sports Club. Those entering for the competition will lie asked to detect tho error?, mechanical and geographical, which are indicated in the story of a trip which will ho supplied to them. Four points will he allowed for mechanical errors detected, and two for geographical errors, while in theevent of a competitor describing an error which does not exist, ho will forego three marks.

Under the auspices of the Pioneer Sports Club, a lecture on correct lubrication will be given at an early date by Mr J. Stewart, an American, who is at present on a visit to. the Dominion.

PIONEER MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB. The ee;-?nih annual report of the Pioneer Motor-cycle Club states inter, alia:

Pocro and Ales. Smith tied with 8 points each for the Kennolt Cup. Messrs i). S. Veivii-., C. Bell, L. F. Poore, and Alex. Smith tied for tho Wa-keSold Cup with lrißsimuni marks. This cup was given for tho Solo He-liability Trial, and in the private owners' rlass, Messrs O. C. Gordon Ist,- and R. Murly .2nd, were the. successful competitors. The -value of prizes won during; the year arncitntcd to about £l3O. The hotel scheme has myvv been extended to Ike ?Covtn Island, and members, when travelling, may obtain concessions at hotels in practically" ' cvarv part of tho Dominion. The club 13 affiliated through tho South 'lsland Motor Union, with tho Royal Automobile Ciub (England) and the Automobile Association (England),-and club members, when visitinsr "tho Old 'Country, can obtain all tho privileges of an overseas member. Reciprocal illations have also been established, with tho 11.A.C. -of Victoria.

ASHBURTON MOTOR-CYCLE CLUB. Tho annual meeting ol the. . Asliburton Itotbr-cyolo Club -will- be held' to-morrow night. .The balance-sheet shows a credit of £l6 l&j( ; 4d,. and. n. profit of £.l S3 5d on the year's workings. .The.. .subscriptions and donations amounted to £23 9s 6d. The annual report stated that the club was reorganised on Auynat 57th, 192t, and commenced the season with a bank balance of £9 7s lid, terminating a, successful season with-a balance of i'lG 1(;3 4d. The membership numbered 32, with every prospect of a substantial increase during the> ensuing voar. Club rallies were well supported, and thoroughly enjoyed by all vide« who participated! in them. The "Motor-cyclo Bodco" presented to the Ashburton public in aid of tho Ist C.M.E. Band last Jsovembor, in tho Domain, proved a success, and a.s a. result the club presented tho sum of £35 5s Sd to the local band. All riders who participated in the rally to Akf.roa on February 7lh agreed that it was the most successful and enjoyable one of tho season. Bad weather repeatedly caused tho Pioneer Club's (Christchurch) opening tun to Motukarara, to bo postponed, but eventually the club.attended tho rally/and wore cordially entertained by th-o Christchurch Club. Bidcro from Asliburton carried awav several prizes from the field of sport that day, and also gavo an exhibition of "motor-'cvclo football," «his . game being witnessed for the first time by tho public in New Zealand. It was a thrilling- and exciting sport for riders and tho public, and it had overy prosoect of increasing in popularity in tho near future. With tho- promised increase of membership for the coming season( the, club should bo ono of the most successful in tho South Island. Members were requested to malco an effort to secure new members, thus assuring the social side, of the club rallies . tho success that was enjoyed last, season. Tho success of the past ecaoon was duo to-the untir-in"-efforts of tho committee, who did everything possiblo to make tho club rallies entertaining. ..
