THEFT FROM SLOT TELEPHONES
(PEBSS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, July 9. John Muir appeared at Court charged with stealing 12,000 pennies■■ from slot telephones. The evidence of detectives was tnat rjeeused had been seen loitering about the telephone booths.afc the Post Office. It had been suspected that tampering was going on as the records showed that the receints had diminished. A watch was kept on Muir, and when arrested he admitted obtaining £SO by manipulating the machines. He pleaded guilty and was committed for sentence.
