DAIRY CONTROL.

, to £bb xsitos or "thz rasas." Sir,—l havo been much amused by reading the report of an address given at Greymouth by Mr J. R. Hamilton, \dio, by the way, is ono of our South Island sitting membera on the Dairy Control Board. Mr Hamilton said: "The dairv producers were all in the Northern Hemisphere, whereas the producers of meat mostly were south of tho Equator."? Again, in reply to questions, Mr Hamilton said. "All f.o.b. and c.i.f. soles would still bo in existence, but when queried on this point and confronted with a statement by Mr Qrounds that all sales would cease, Mr Hamilton replies that "tho Board's scheme might automatically cut out f.o.b. sales, but it had no power to Jo so." This is one of tho body of men to whom we arc giving tho handling of our dairy produce, to tho value of £20,000,000 sterling annually, j Let dairymen think a moment and they will realiso'tlie importance of having some safeguard winch we cannot obtain with the present absolute and compulsory control. —Youre, etc., 3 COWMAN. June 2nd, 1025.

TO THK MITOB OF "T3X TXMM." Sir,—ln your paper to-day, Mr J. B. Hamilton, a member of tho Dairy Produce Control Board, is reported to havo said that th© Board has no power to interfere with c.i.f. sales or f.o.b. sales under the compulsory clause of the •Act. Imagine such a statement from a member of the Board which proposes to handle £18,000,000 of dairy pioduce annually! It is nothing less than a frank confession that ho does not know tho first thing about compulsory control, its' application, or its effect. I hope tho dairy farmers of tho province will read in your issue of to-day Mr Hamilton's statement, and; ask themselves the question: Can compulsory control be a success guided by men who don't even know what it means, let alone the organisation that is necessary to handle it, and the busi- | nesß experience- and ability that is esi sential to hare even tho possibility of making a first-class attempt?— Yours, etc., "ANTI-CONTROL." June 2nd, 1925.

TO THE BMTOB OT "TfcS 28E58." Sir, —As dairy farmers we are being asked to ballot for a representative on the Dairy Control Board, and many are at a loss to know how to cast their votes. May I point out that Mr Wil-

liam Robertson is a director of th« Taiori and Peninsula Milk Supply Co. Ltd.. is president of the HJddieniar-h Farmers' Union, is in favour of th* ward system of voting and limited control only.—Yours, etc.. DAIRY FARMER. June 2nd. 1925.
