THE MYSTERY MOVIE BALL.

The Ziegfeld Follies, in New York, have made their slogan phrase famous. It is "Glorifying the American Girl." Australian National Films, producers of "The Price," a picture that will shortly be seen in Christchurch, are ambitious to apply the same process to the Australian and the New Zealanrl girl, and in furtherance of this policy are conducting a competition whereby first each eity in the Dominion will choose a representative, and then from these in turn Miss New Zealand will be chosen to star in pictures. Tho election of Miss Christchupch is to tako place at the mystery movie ball which is to, be held in the Caledonian Hall next Tuesday night, and the. special presentations, of the candidates will be one of the spectacular features of an evening which should be full of thrills from an entertainment point of view. Onlookers, as -well as dancers", will be asked to voto for their choice as an . ideal picture type, and the voting cards given-for this purpose will also serve for each person present to offer their solution of tho mysteries that give the dance its name. To the .person handing in the first correct one read goes-a very attractive prize. Seldom do onlookers participate in a prize-winning opportunity at a ball, and there are many reasons—from a purely entertainment ooint of view—for attending the ball in this capacity, therefore as the circle only has 120 seats, intending spectators are advised to ring 3489,-and reserve tl*>m.. Dress is optional, so it is difficult to guess whether there will be a big pageant of costuming or not, but the lure of handsome prizes in four different classes should attract the appearance of many in fancy dress.
