[Baron Harris, of Belmont, ' Kent, was born in February, 1851, and was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. Ho has played an important part in Imperial affairs, being Under-Secretary for India 1885-83, Under-Secretary for War 1886-89, and Governor of Bombay 1890-95. Lord Harris played cricket for Kent over a period of 35 years. He represented M.C.C. at Lord's 53 years after his debut there. Ho captained England during the tour of Australia in 1878-79 and again in England in 1880 and 1884. He is »t present treasurer of the Marylebonc Chib.]
