DAIRY COMPANIES.
RESERVE AND DEPRECIATION. (press association tilegium.) DITNEDIN, June 3. A deputation representing the National Dairy Association and South Island Dairy Association waited upon tho Hon. W. Noswortliy this morning in his capacity as Minister of Finance. Tho request made was that the taxation on co-operative ' dairy companies should be amended to allow them to carry reasonable amounts of reserve,, and also to make reasonable depreciation upon machinery. The deputation stressed the need for co-opcrativo companies as well as other concerns being allowed to build up some kind of re : serve as a protection against contingencies, otherwise they wero severely handicapped when a shjmp .came. Tho Minister promised to go into the matter with the Commissioner of Taxes, and, if necessary, with his colleagues in the Cabinet.
