AN UP-TO-DATE MACHINE

LONDON, February 25.

One of the windows of the High Commissioner's Office is now being used to display two wapiti beads and two deer heads. The red deer is thai shot by Lord Jellicoe in the Lake Wanaka district, and sliown at Wembley last year. It lias a spread of 47J inches. On either side of this are the line wapiti heads, one with a spread of 53} inches, shot by Mr Donald, of Masterton, and the other with a spread of 40 inches. These monster exhibits make a splendid show, and are attracting a good deal of attention. The High Commissioi'fr is also taking the opportunity of drawing attention to the illustrated volume giving detaiis of all the finest heads si ot in the Dominion. Jn the same window there is an advertising cabinet worked on the prin"iplc that movement compels attention. It i." :t neat polished box with a long aperture in frout. Inside the aperture, a continuously revolving band conducts a printed sentence. The lettering is about two inches in height and very plain for all to see. It is visible cither by day or by night, and any new announcement of fofty wordi may be placod in position in a matter of half-an-hour. The machine is worked by an electric motor of, i horse-power, ai a 'ost of one penny per day. It is in fact a small-scale replica cf the rapidlytravelling sky-signs 1 hat are such a feature of London to-day. At the present time the machine is announcing some facts regarding spore in New Zealand. Last week it was giving information about the opportunities for .lomes>tic servants in New Zealand. As ihe whole outfit cost only £2O it would seem that a profitable addition to the publicity material of the Government lias installed.'
