CASUALTIES.
An inquest for purposes of identification was opened at> tho Hospital yesterday in connexion with the ur.atb b> electrocution of William \\obb, an. electrical railway linesman, bet ore tne Coroner, Mr G. Cruickshaiili, and adjourned. Tho body was brought mto Christchwrch by train from Darheld yesterday morning. Webb was aboutMO years of and jhad (i wife an<l one child residing m Edgewaro road. Tho ueceased wa» pulling in tho electric wire hand- over hand when the accident occurred «nd another man was winding the spinning i jenny. No one seems to know how tho jnishap occurred, but one man is of the opinion that the wire which Webb was handling must have come into contact with the high tension wire, which was four feet above the ground. Webb's hands were badly burned the other man was thrown some distance away against a fence. First aid was administered to Webb, but it was unavailing.

Miss Anthony, of Petone, a delegate to the W.C.T.U. Convention, was taken to hospital yesterday with an injury to the ribs through a fall while assist ing to decorate a church for a function. Ernest Galbraith Townsend, agod 18, left his home at Wallacetown on Tuesday evening to go rabbit-shooting. This morning his sister found him dead beside a wire fence, with his head badly shattered and a gun lying at his side. It is surmised that the gun exploded while deceased was climbing the fence.
