Reference to the resignation of the Medical Officer of Health (Dr. T. F.

Telford) was made by the chairman (Mr A. F. Wright) at iast evening : s meeting of the Canterbury Progress Leagtie. Though Dr. Telford's resignation had not been accepted, stated Mr Wright, ho understood that he «u being transferred to another district. Ho hoped that it would be possible for Dr. Telford to remain in Canterbury, Ho had performed many excellent services to the province, and it would be very regrettablfe if he left the district.

Before starting upon the ordinary business at last evening's meeting of the Canterbury Progress League, the chairman (Mr A. P. Wright) extended a welcome to Mr Denys Hoaxe, who attended for the- first time since his return from the Wembley Exhibition. He also welcomed Mr F. A. Grant, the newly appointed assistantrorg&oiser, whose experience, he felt, would be of great value to the League's activities.
