IMPERIAL CONFERENCE.
CABLE TO DOMINIONS. (bt cable—press association— coptsigmt) (Australian and x.z. cable association.) LONDON. December 21. The British Government lias cabled tho Governments of the Dominions and India with a ivicw to ascertaining whether it is possible to arrange a special meeting of the Imperial Conference early in March to discuss questions arising out of the Geneva protocol. The object is a full and frank discussion of the nature, extent, and responsibilities which would be involved for the whole Empire by ratification of tho protocol. There is no question of any special lines having boon already laid down by the British Government, but everything will be left for a complete and frank discussion on the part of tho Dominions. MEAT IMPORT SCHEME. FOOD COMMISSION'S DISAVOWAL. (AUSTRALIAN* AND N.Z. CABLE ASSOCIATION.) LONDON, December 24. The Secretarv of tho Food Prices Commission staies that the Commission held eight public meetings, at which it took evidence in regard to the prices of wheat, flour and bread in particular. It did not hear evidence in regard to meat. No scheme for licensing imports or controlling supplies was submitted. Statements in the newspapers to the effect that the Commission examined and approved of a scheme giving preference to Dominion meat producers and restricting imports from foreign countries were without foundation.
