—— MONTHLY MEETING. The North Canterbury Hoopita.l Board met yesterday. Present: Mr H. J. Otley (chairman), Mesdames '5. Roberts H. E. . Herbert, tho Revs. J. K. Archer and C. Carr, tho Hon. R. Moore. M.L.C., Messrs P. Hor- | .r«U>.«.Smith, W..J..Walter, H. H. Holland, M. Bethell, H. Paterson-, D. McMillan, W. P. Spencer, W. B. Leadley, and I'. G. Norton. Hospital Committee, The Finance Committee reported that the I fees received since last meeting totalled. £2287 33 3d. The average daily number 'of patients in-hospital during- October was 336.7. In the venereal diseases' department there were 8-36 attendances^representing 186 patients,.32 of j ■whom were new.. ! Benevolent Committee. The Benevolent Committee reported that 121 applications for outdoor relief, representing 467 persons, bad been dealt with; also four applications for admission to institutions. Befunds on account of maintenance at tho various institutions for tho month of October totalled ±'522 Is 9d. Mrs Knight, toe Matron at' Tuarangi, had returned to the institution, and hoped • shortly to be able to take up her usual.dutie3. Messrs Watson and Sons -were -willing to accept an order for tho necessary X-ray equipment asked for by Dr. Guthrie making delivery as early as possible, but holding over the question of payment of the account until the commencement of the new financial year. The committed asked for authority to "accept this offer, and place the order with "Watson and Sons immediately. The committee had written to the Minister of Defence asking that the Board's Department should be allowed to do all the local artificial limb work for military patients. Tho committee proposed to reduce the staff by one man. Mr Leadley objected to the proposal to install a new X-ray plant. Tho present plant wae quite officient. Ho moved that it bo referred back to- the committer. Mr Hcrrell seconded' the amendment. The amendment was lost and tho clndian adopted.
