School Jubilee. A meeting of tho Jubilee Committee hold last evening it tho school committee room. Jlr W. X. Poster presided over a lair attendance of members. ilr E. W. Brown wrote, forwarding bis resignation as secretary of the committee. Mr Brown stated that ho regretted having to reoiyn, but he found it neceE»ary to do so owing to other engagements. It was decided to accept Mr Brown's resignation with regret. Air D. . Loader, jun., was elected secretary.

It was decided, on the motion of Mr J. W. A. 'Walker, that a, circular letter be forwarded to old scholars with an appeal for funds for the purpose of defraying the expenses of the jubilee. It was further decided that booklets be distributed amongst members of the committee for collecting' funds. The chairman (Mr W. T. Foster), secretary (Mr D. Wales), and tho assistant secretary (Miss U. R. Wales) were authorised to receive funds from cx-scholars. Mr W. Knott stated that he had heard several old scholars commenting- adversely in respect to the sum of £9OO which hai boon derived from a quoen carnival. Some of tho old scholars wanted to know what had been done with tho money. Mr Gower, chairman of the School Committee, stated that if tho scholars in question wanted to know where tho money was going and how it bad been spent., they Jia<l had several opportunities of doing eo each year when the balance-sheet had been submitted at tho annual meeting. Tho fund had beon employed up to tho present to purchase tho school prizes and to defray the incidental expenses of tho annual school picnic. A sub-coinmitiae, consistingof M«sara W. T. Foster and H. Bajfield, was instructed to order 600 jiost-cards of the school building, and to draw up a circular givi;sT tho history of tho school, for tho purpose of selling tho same on tho jubilee day. '.['ho secretary was instructed, to advertise in tho Christchurch newspapers the fact that at the next committee meeting the school roll would bs placed before the meeting for perusal, with a view to finding old pupils now residing out of Lyttelton, so that they might bo notified of tho jubilee celebration. Mr "W. Carson reported that ho had interviewed the local picture show manager regarding tho matter of providing a specia? programme at a. ma.tinee fin the day of the jubilee oelebvatio-n. Mr A. Lane had generously offered to let tho theatre tho committee for the afternoon for £i. Ihe offer was. accepted.

The Watersiders. The Lyttelton watersiders have been experiencing a lean timo recently and at a certain hour last night thero was not a singlo vessel in r>ort. As a. number of ovei<\eaa vessels are due within "tho next few days] however, a brisker timo appears to bo in sight.

Yachting. A special general meeting of the Canterbury Yacht Club will bo hold in the Club "House tonight at 7.30. Great interest is being shown in tho trial races, the first of which -will bo sailed on Saturday ia connexion with ilio coming Sardors Cup contest, to be sailed <*t Auckland in January. It is expected that throo fcurteen-footera- will compete in the trial raceA: Liimeb and Poioio from Lyttclioti ana Secret from the Rcdcliffs Club. This year tho courso has been Rltcred slightly, and tho public will have an opportunity of witnessing tho whole of the race from -sjert to fiaish; besides which the new course gives «, bettor trial to the boats end crows as tho course will now ho triangular. Commencing at tho buoy off the breakwater, the course is round the western pile light, thunco round the buoy off Diamond Harbour and back to the starting point. It is hoped that, in addition to tno handicap races to bo sailed at tho local regatta to bo held on Boxing Day, tml vax;es will be sailed. —.
