The Acre—Rene colt Arpent. who won the Debutante Stakes at Wangamii, will have his next run in the McLean Stakes at the D.J.C. Spring Meeting. Razzlc Dazzle's sister, Dazzling Light, may be sent to "Wingatui to contest the Duiiediu Guineas next month. She is credited with the family gift of speed, and ran a particularly good race in the Avondale Guineas on Monday.

Income has gone wrong, and has been returned to his owner's farm for a long holiday. Savory is still at Wanganui. His injured stifle is giving sonio trouble, and it is anticipated that a few weeks will elapse before he can be sent home to Taranaki.

Gold Light's victory in tl'C Avondnlo Cup on Saturdav brings her total winnings to date to £.7~>07 10s, these figures being less than £IOO below Razzle Dazzle's earnings. Both marcs arc from SLntyer, who was purchased by Mr W. T. Hazlett at the dispersal of the Blairgowrie Stud in March, 1019, for 1100 guineas. Upwards of £15,000 is surely. :i good return on the outlay, and Mr Hazlett is fortunate in getting three lillies like Gold Light, Razzle Dazzk-, and Dazzling Light from the English mare to -carry on the line.

Horoscope, whom the cables reported had been sold by Mr W. G. Stead in Sydney recently, is a two-year-old colt by Absurd—Lady Ball. Racing at- Ashburton, Avondale, Otaki and Dannevirke engaged tho attention of racing men last week, and those not fortunate enough to be present at any one of these meetings will find a deal of consolation in the latest issue of the "Weekly Press and Referee," which contains full details of tho racing and excellent reports written by experienced racing reporters. Antisthenes, Wayfarer, The Rook, and Spectator each contribute columns of first-class reading matter, and a special statistician keeps readers well posted on the doings of horses, jockeys and -trainers for the present season. In the trotting pages light harness enthusiasts will find much to interest them in Searchlight's newsy items and Stud News and Sires of the Season articles contribute in no small measure to tho popularity of the paper. The "Weekly Press and Referee" should find a, place in every sportsman's home, for it represents the very best in sporting journalism, and to the follower of form is a ready form of reference that none should be without. _ In connexion with the Geraldine Racing Club's Spring Meeting to-morrow and, on Friday, special trains will leave Christchureh each day at 8.30 a.m., the return trains being due hack at 8.42 p.m.

THE AVONDALE EXPLOSION ! "DELIBERATELY CAUSED." (PBXSS ASSOCIATIOir TELEGSATT.) AUCKLAND, September 23. The centre portion of the building destroyed at the Axondale racecourse contained the stand-by plant. It was totally -wrecked, and the rest of the totalisator house \ras badly shaken, the windows smashed and the girders of the, roof slightly lifted. The totalisator that was used yesterday is hardly injured and could be used again today. The gas and -water mains remain intact, which discounts -the possibility that the explosion was caused by gas, door of the building -was open, the lock having been forced either by the explosion or by a person with intent to destroy the premises. The damage is roughly estimated at £SOO to £IOOO, and is covered by insurance. There is no doubt that tiie ecsplosioir' was deliberately caused, but the reason is a complete mystery.
