THE PINE TREE.
ADDRESS BY MISS FITZGERALD. The first of a series of three lectures on "The Life Story of a Pine Tree" iras given, by Miss Margaret S. FitzGerald, M.Sc, at Canterbury College last evening. Dr. Chilton presided over a good. attendance. "Pinus radiata" was the typo chosen by the lecturer, who begau by showing its relation, to other plants. The structure of the seed and its germination vcro then dealt with, and illustrative specimeus were displayed. The growth of the tree was traced from the seedling to the mature pine tree. The lecturer was accorded a hearty vote of thanks.
