The yarding at the Tiangiora market yesterday included 427 sheetp and lambs, 54*" head of cattie, and 60 piya. There was no improvement in the tone of the market, as compared with the-dullness that has prevailed during the past few weeks, mainly in consequence of the continuance of the dry weather. The sales made were:—29 aged ewes , and 20 lambs at 21s 4d (all counted), 24 ewes and 27 lambs at. 2Ga 3d, 25 ewes and 29 lambs at 18s 9d, 18 ewes and 21 lambs ■at 18s 4d, 45 ewes and 49 lambs at 19s Id, 27 ewes and 27. lambs at 16s, 27 wether hoggets and 63 ewe hog-geta at 23s 3d, and 25 wether .hoggets at 243 cd. 1 ASHBURTON MARKET. The entry at . the Tinwald yards yesterday comprised 76 fat ewes, 160 fat wethers, 16 fat hoggets, 1106 Btore3, and 54 head of store cattle. . The principal sales were:—• Ewes—2 at -He, 2 at 42s 6d, 9 at 36s 6d, 7 at 383 6d, 9 et 36b Id, 6 at 39s 7d, 3 at 51s 6d, 3 at 43s Cd, 5 at 35s 3d, 5 at 355, 2 at 32s 3d. _ Cattle—The sale of cattle again resulted in poor prices, even allowing for the low condition of those oSered. Empty cows brought £1 to £2, springing cows 15s to £3 15s, springing heifers £1 6s to £2 10a, yearling heifers 7s to 14s, and yearling steers 6s.

INVESTMENT SHARES. BUYERS NOT PLENTIFUL. (fPECIAL TO "TKB PBEaS.") WELLINGTON, September' 23. Sharebrokers are beginning to comtplmn of tho absence of buyers.. There are plenty of sellers willing to accept present prices, but business is very difficult. Government stocks and bonds are 6low, and the few buyers about axe not prepared to pay the old prices. Instead of a margin of 2a 6d to 5s between the buying and selling quotations, the difference ie now 7s 6d to 10s. Bank shares, which a few weeks ago were in -active demand, are now more or less neglected. Bank of New Zealand ehare3, however, .keep very firm. Gas shares find no favour with investors, and ehipping shares are quiet. Insurance shares are firm, and business has been done at full current rates. Meat preserving shares svre slow, with an occasional sale reported. Woollen shares aro quiet, and business difficult. Timber shares aro very firm, and are the only shares that show an upward tendency. "Holders arc very firm, hcn:o business is restricted. Brewery shares aro quiet at the moment, but they appear to be maintaining their values. Holders arc very firm, hence business is restricted. There does not appear to bo much money available for investment in Stock Exchange securities. FROZEN MEAT MARKET. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., received the following cablegram from their London ofHce, under date 19th inßtant: ".Proicn Meat—Lamb, 12d per lb (average). Mutton: Wether and maiden ewe, light SJd per lb; iieavy, 7Jd per lb; ewe, light 6Jd per lb; heavy 5Jd per lb; market steady. Messrs Harris Bros., Ltd., report that the usual weekly auction aale of Feather Brand guaranteed fresh eggs, on behalf of the Canterbury Egg Farmers' Co-operative Association, was held in their rooms, 158 Hereford Btreet, "yesterday afternoon.
