Tho Pride of Chriatchureh Tent, No. 26, celebrated its forty-seventh anniversary in the form of a banquet in the Dorothy Teg, Scorns. The Mayor {Bio. J. A. Flcsher) presided over a gathering of over 200 members. Ero. T. Fathers, district secretary, from Wellington, was (present, also several members of the Canterbury Provincial Council, including Bro. Lca.vcr, P.C.K., Bro. HassaJl, P.P.C.Pv., Bro. Martin, P.S.J.T., Bro E. Wilson. Prov Sec., and Bro. A. "Wilson. P.C.R,, from Auckland' After the toast of "The King," proposed iby tho chairman, "The Order" was proposed by Bro J! A. Flesher,'who mentioned the exceptional growth of the Order,' apd i said it was tho greatest total abstinence frjendly 'society in existence. The waa responded to by Bros. Fivthere, district secretary, in the absence of tho District Chief Euier, Bro. Fan-ant, of Diinedin, who could not be present.' The toast of "The Pride of Chriatchurch Tent" was proposed by Bro. E." A. M. Leaver, P.C.R.,' who outlined the eteady ! growth of tlio Tent from' its institution, , pointing out that from the direct efforts of its members new Tenia had been formed' in | Timaru, Ashburton, Linwood, Sydenham, Adi dington, St. Albans, a : nd Woolntoh. Al- ! though' come of its leading workers had transferred to some of the new Tenta, the parent Tent was 'still the largest Tent with j 850 members, and just as. active and virile ias ever. Tho toast was responded to by the Te-qt secretary, Bro. C. H: Bascand, who thanked tho previous speakera for tho kind things said akoiit it. Tho "Canterbury Provincial Council" was proposed bv Bro. P. M. Robson, and reIsppuded to by Bro. A. D. Hassall, P.P.C.K. The toast of "Other Tents and Auxiliaries" was proposed by Bro. j. Smith, wh< enumerated the work dono by the other Tents, and stressed the work of the_ Juvenile Section and tho Medical and Hospital Committee. Bro. A. Wil*on, of Auckland, and Bto. A. Martin responded. Tho toast of "The Sisters" was proposed by Bro. G. Speirs, P.C.R., and ably responded to by Sis. D. Coombes and Sis. G. 3Ln<stings. During the evening items were given by Mrs Simpson, Miss Duff, and Sister Turner, Mrs E. A. Smith playing tho accompaniment. Tho chairman presented a Past Chief Ruler framed certificate to Sis. D. Coombea and Bro. O. E. Dalmcr, also an honours collar to Sis. G. Hastings in recognition of her valuable services during the last six years as assistant secretary.
