Private Members' Bills engaged the -! attention of the Ho'J-se of llepresenta- | tives to-nignt. | State Dominion Bank Bill. i In the absence of Mr W. A. Vwtch, j Mr S. G. Smith (Tnranaki) moved the second reading of the State Dominion Bank Bill. The Speaker held that this measure was an Appropriation Bill and ruied it out of order. Painters' Health. Bill. On behalf of Mr Veiteh, Mr Smith also moved the second reading of the Painters' and Decorators' Health Protection Bill. This was agreed to, and the Bill"" as referred to the La.bour Bills Committee which will take evidence on it. Workers' Compensation Bill. In the absence of Mr E. J. Howard, Mr Parry moved the second reading o' the "Workers' Compensation Act Amendment Bill. The Minister of Labour raised the point- that this alsr> was an Appropriation Bill and could not he without the recommendation of the Crown. The Speaker held that the Appropriation clause was only incidental to Bill, and was not its main feature,
